Styles not working after upgrade
Please help! Following an upgrade of my microsoft office from 2007 to 2010 the word templates/styles arent working properly. Clicking on Normal, title and Subtitle work fine - but heading 1 and Heading 2 are not working at all. I just click on "heading 1" when the text is highlighted and the text just stays at or returns to "normal". None of the templates are working properly! Thank so much |

When selecting text, make sure to select whole paragraphs.
You should also verify that the heading styles have the formatting that you want.

Selecting the whole paragraph doesn't make a difference.
When I try modfy a style it says that "the style name already exists or is reserved for a built-in style". Its only the headings 1, headings 2, headings 3... which arent working. When I click on them nothing happens. when you click on the other styles - like "normal" or "title" - the style gets a border showing that it is selected. |

The error message suggests that something strange may be going on... :-(
If you click in a heading paragraph (don't select anything) and press Ctrl+Shift+S, then what do you see in the Apply Styles pane? If you click the Modify button, do you get the error message again?
