Default Rulers

Can anyone tell me is it possible to add a ruler to both sides of a page in MS Word 2010. If it is can you explain how to do so.

Thank you in anticipation

No, you can't choose where to display the rulers. The vertical one will always be at the top, and the horizontal one will always be on the left.

If you explained why you want this, maybe someone could come up with an alternative approach.

Stephan,

Thank you for the reply.

As i have almost finished the project i wanted to use it for it is no longer important.

Whast I was doing is printig out some place cards for my renewal of vows, i've got three to a page, the left one the ruler is easy to use, the right one it's a pain.

But then I very often find that I would like to align something on the right of the page and the ruler is on the left , and it is always a downer, I'm quite suprised that no one else sees this, I have noticed it for a long while. If you are using an actual paper exersize It is easy you move the ruler to the right of the page, but word your stuck, somone in "Micrososft" has decreed it only needs to be on the left so on the left it will stay.

Thanks anyway.

You may find the document grid useful. To display it, click Grid Lines on the View tab.

To set options for the grid, click Page Layout tab | Align | Grid Settings.

Stephan,

Thank you for that info, I've never used the gridlines i must be honest. But i do have have the habit of telling people you really should explore all the options a program has to offer you, and then there i am guilty myself of not doing what I tell others to do.

Thank you.

Brian

Gridlines are actually intended for "snapping" objects to fixed locations (see the Drawing Grid dialog box), but you can use them as visual cues as well, of course.
