Hi,
I'm trying to find a way with MS Word to convert blank lines at the end of a page (between the end of the main text and the start of the footer) into something other than blank. For example: / / / / footer text here. (The above should be four nearly blank lines, each with a single slash on them, followed by "footer text") The goal is to have a piece of paper documenting something, and that a notary feels secure in notarizing (without the worry that text can be added later). thanks, Stan sieler@allegro.com |

Are you looking to do this with a lot of documents?
If so, go here and download the batchfile from the site, place all documents (i would suggest you only COPY first - just to see if it works correctly first!!) to be altered in one folder and run the BatchReplaceAnywhere macro from inside a blank Word document. If it is ALWAYS going to be 4 lines at the end of the document, then enter: ^p^p^p^p^p ^p represents a line return. (and YES five of them - one for the line return at the end of the previous line) in the find box and : ^p/^p/^p/^p/^p in the replace box If it can VARY from 3 or four lines, then you will need to try a lesser number or line returns and repeat the process to try and get all varients. - First look in your documents and see if there is a standard amount between paragraphs, as you will want to avoid that number! thanks...an interestsing approach, but I'm still hoping to find what ought to
be burried in Word somewhere: a way to say "hey, leave no line blank". |

Personally, I still think the method above - with a little bit of tweaking (remove the find replace Q strings with what you want found/replaced) would be the quickest method! - if you have variable end lines, then you could even add a loop function into the VBA code - then it's just a matter of running it once on all your files, rather than having to do them one-by-one with some setting! Still - I wish you luck, and if I hear tell of anything like that I'll post it for you! |
