2013: “show text boundaries” has changed!
2013: “show text boundaries” has changed!
The “show text boundaries” option in the previous version was indicating the boundary of the page according to the setting of the margins. But in now in 2013 what does it mean as it is appearing in each single line (screenshots are attached)? Thank you Best Jamal

The screen shot suggests that you have the document gridlines displayed. On the Page Layout tab, click Align | View Gridlines (to deselect the option).
I have not yet tried Word 2013, so I'm assuming the command for gridlines is still on the Page Layout tab.

The “gridline” is unchecked, nevertheless, the “show text boundaries” option still has weird effect on the display (the screenshot is attached)! Best Jamal

OK. Text boundaries may display as horizontal lines next to a wrapped object. That doesn't appear to be the case in your document.
Another thing to check: Is the Vertical Alignment set to "Justified"? Then change it back to "Top." You'll find the option in the Page Setup dialog box. To display the dialog, you can double-click the vertical ruler.

By the way, this is not the only “wired” behavior in the 2013 version -pasted images to Word don’t come by default to be “in line with text” (Screenshot is attached) -the cursor sigh doesn’t appear when it is identical to the “text boundary”. (Screenshot is attached) Thank you for the help, Best Jamal

Well, since it isn't a wrapped object or vertical alignment set to "Top," common reasons for the symptoms you illustrated in older versions of Word, then it might very well be a bug in Word 2013.
Be sure to report the bug to Microsoft. Since I'm not running the preview myself, I'm not sure about the proper location, but Microsoft Connect is one possibility.

Same thing occurring in released version of 2013
Has there been any more info on this issue ?
I also get the "boundary shading on every paragraph" and not just "on the page" Any updates ? Last edited by aussiejd; 07-29-2013 at 07:01 PM. Reason: grammar |

Text boundaries have changed in Word 2013, for documents saved in Word 2013 format. They now appear around each separate paragraph (which in earlier versions only could happen with text next to a wrapped object).
The changed behavior, which I'm told is not a bug, makes text boundaries useless in Word 2013 (unless you open a document in compatibility mode).

As I wrote, you will have to save your document in an older file format for text boundaries to "behave."
