Go to the "Paragraph Ribbon" at the top of the screen and click on the same icon that you show in your attachment. Once you click on it, it will go away. (The purpose of that character...at least in my use...is to see all the hidden characters in my document(s) such as spacing, tab keys, et al.)

Hi Jim,
I've looked several times & must be blind b/c I don't see the ribbon anywhere in the toolbar. I'm on 2003. Sorry I forgot to mention that. Michelle |

Ok, FINALLY fixed it.
That option wasn't on the toolbar so I had to go into custom toolbar & find it & put it there. Thanks ![]() Michelle |

You can also show or hide formatting marks by clicking Options on the Tools menu and then clicking the View tab. Under Formatting marks, select or clear the check boxes.
