Default Word PDF Converter

I'm saving a word doc to pdf via "save as" function which comes up if you run your mouse over the "save as" button.



The option is given to publish it in pdf of xps format. I choose pdf in the hope that it will shrink my file which is does.

The problem is I want my document to be under 1mb but i don't want it to look like the end resulting mess as illustrated below. See word doc before and after conversion. The before picture is after sorry;
