Default Question: How to maintain gray shading in text control box

Hi,

I know this is probably a rather simple fix and I've probably just been entering the wrong search terms but I am attempting to create an application for a parade permit and I want to change the default text in the text control boxes to something other than "click here to enter text" I see that I can just type it in and changes but it changes to a solid black rather than the gray text that catches the eye that it needs to be changed.

What am I missing to keep this formatting?

I don't know of any way to do this with a Content Control.

Consider using a MacroButton Field instead. You can format the prompt language for one of those (for instance in red bold comic sans) and use whatever prompt you want. The prompts can't wrap to a different line, though. This is the equivalent of a Content Control that disappears when you type in it.

Macrobutton fields have the advantage that they will work in any version of Word, at least back as far as Word 97.
