Default Independent figure captions

Hello,

I am sending an article to a journal that requiere figure captions of the image width+0.5 inch. The problem is, if I adjust it for one image, it changes for all images. So it does not work since every image has a different width. How can I do that? Thanx!

What are you changing, specifically? Text indentation?

Exactly. I have 5 images, every one of a different width. So they say that the indentation has to be the width+0.5in on every side and the document does not allow me to modify it for every caption independently. When I do it for the second image for eg., it modifies it for the first one and all the rest

This happens because the Caption style, by default, is set to update automatically. When the formatting changes, note that you can Undo (Ctrl+Z) to get rid of it.

To fix the issue permanently: Place the insertion point in a caption and press Ctrl+Shift+S; in the Apply Styles pane, verify that the style name is "Caption." Click the Modify button. Clear the "Automatically update" check box. Select "New documents based on this template" before clicking OK.
