Heading is not Mirroring
I have the document setup as mirrored, but the header is not mirroring.
The header is setup like the following: Heading 2 .................................................. ............................... ### Thanks |

Mirroring refers to margins, not headers.
Use different odd and even headers. You'll have to actually set up the opposite header. |

Hi Charles,
Sounds very exciting. The nightmare of setting up page header again..... What I have now is ODD page header. StyleRef (Heading2) .................................................. .....### How do I tell Word to make it ODD pages only? |

Change your header settings to different Odd and Even.
Put in your even-page header. If your sections are not set as "same as previous," which is the default setting, do this for each section. Read Sections / Headers and Footers in Microsoft Word 2007-2010 |

Thanks Charles.
Works like charm... just a little issue. How do I place StyleRef (Heading2) to the right margin (even pages). The page number positioned OK at the left margin. |

Charles, I just don't believe that I can't master this. I am used to programming pretty complex stuff.
This is what I have: xxx (tab) StyleRef(Heading2) If I put in the center tab (a second tab), for long Heading-2 it wraps over to a second line. With one tab, it is not at the right margin. The page number is OK. For the Odd number pages I have a long tab at the center. Where on Earth can I get a long center tab for the even number of pages? |

Maybe I am just not asking the question right.
I want: ###............................................... .StyleRef(Heading2) like above. I don't want StyleRef to break up if Heading2 longer than half. It works the other way. What I noticed that there is reverse L tab mark for Odd number at the right margin. How do I get the reverse L? Somehow I only get L . Document attached. |

Tabs can be set or adjusted using the ruler. How to Make the Best Use of Word's Rulers You can also set them in the Tabs dialog box. To get to that box in Word 2007 or 2010 you click on the dialog box drop down arrow in the bottom-right corner of the paragraph group of the Home tab. Then click on the Tabs button. Here are directions (in the page I gave you earlier) on setting tabs. http://www.addbalance.com/usersguide...tting.htm#Tabs Given the amount of work you are doing in Word, you owe it to yourself to read that entire article, not just the part about Tabs and then follow up by learning about Styles. Trying to skip learning these things is shooting yourself in the foot. If you are using Word more than 6 hours a month you owe it to yourself to learn to use Styles in Word. Within two months you will more than have recovered any time you spend learning them. If you use Word more than that the savings are much more dramatic. By some DIVINE intervention I got the reverse L tab to the right margin.
My problem maybe solved. I still have 2 center tabs between the PageNo and StyleRef, which worries me. I see the importance of eternal training in Word. Maybe one day I write a Word training book. Thanks Charles. |

Hi,
Glad you got your right tab. I'm not talking about eternal training, more like 2-4 hours of reading and experimentation. You'll make up the time in less than a week in greater productivity. With the entire heading selected, use your mouse to drag the center tab off the ruler. Then delete the tab characters that were used to skip that tab in your text. (You do have display of non-printing formatting characters turned on, right?) There should only be one center tab on the ruler, not two. If there are two, get rid of them both. |
