Word auto creating new styles
Hi - When I am working in MS Word 2010 and make an update to text with an applied style, Word automatically creates a new style with the original style name plus whatever formatting I just added.
Example: Original style = Warning I bold the text in the style and Word creates: Warning + bold How can I turn off this feature? There must be a setting somewhere! |

What you are seeing isn't an actual style but a style + formatting displayed as a style in the Styles pane. To prevent this from happening, do the following: Clear the "Keep track of formatting" option in File tab | Options | Advanced. Then click the Options link in the Styles pane, and deselect all options under "Select formatting to show as styles." Before clicking OK in the dialog box, select "New documents based on this template."
