Is it possible to use two of the same toolbar buttons in Word 2007?
Anyone know if there's a way to use two "Insert Symbol" buttons on the toolbar in Word 2007? It's kind of a long story so I'll try to simplify. When you click on the Insert Symbol button, the little menu with all your recently selected symbols pops up. This great when you use certain symbols over and over. But when I get to another place in the document that requires a new set of symbols, I lose all the previous ones in the recently used menu and have to start all over again. What I'd like to do is find a way to use two different recently used lists with a different set of symbols in each one. Anyone know if this is possible? Many thanks!

Hi Walt,
No, you can't have two 'Insert Symbol' buttons. You could, however: a) learn the shortcut-key combinations or character codes (following which you type Alt-x); or b) create auto-text entries, for the frequently used symbols.

Hey macropod. I tried assigning shortcut keys. That seems like a pretty good way to go. Appreciate the advice, as always.

The Insert|Symbol dialogue displays both the chracter codes and the shortcut keys (if any) that are already assigned to the characters. It also has an AutoCorrect button that you can click on to create an autocorrect assignment.
