Default Turning On Spell Checking Again

I had too many technical words not in the dictionary, so once I got a message that spelling check is turning itself off.

I added all those words to the dictionary.

How do I turn on automatic spell check?

Thanks.

1. Ctrl-A, Review|Language|Set Proofing Lanuage > UNcheck 'do not check spelling or grammar'
2. Word Options|Proofing|Recheck Document

I could not follow it.

I have the ribbon. Is there a way using the ribbon? Document attached with the ribbon.

I got it.

I clicked on the Orange Button, funny thing, Word Options is hiding on the frame bottom right, a true human engineering triumph!

Then Proofing, and tons of checkmark options....

What he gave you was instructions using the Ribbon. I will translate:

Quote:
1. Ctrl-A, Review|Language|Set Proofing Lanuage > UNcheck 'do not check spelling or grammar'
2. Word Options|Proofing|Recheck Document
1.
Ctrl-A = Select all text in document
Review = click on Review Tab
Language = click on language button
Set Proofing Language = Click on this choice
Uncheck 'do not check spelling or grammar' = make sure this checkbox is clear

OK your way back to your document
2. Word Options = Click on the Office Button and select Word Options
Proofing = Click on the Proofing side tab
Recheck document = run spell check again (I think you could just do this by pressing the F7 key).

This will turn spell checking back on.

If you can, I would recommend setting up a character style that is the same as your body text but has 'do not check spelling or grammar' checked. Then apply that style to the technical words you use and press the F7 key.

I too was working from the Office 2010 Ribbon. It appears it's different in this area.

Try the following key-stroke sequence:
Alt-a, Alt-r, u, l
This should select the whole document, then open the language settings dialogue, where you should ensure you have the appropriate language selected and the 'do not check spelling or grammar' option UNchecked.
