Default Re number clauses

Hi,

could anyone help... I would like to create a button (Add in?) that can renumber clauses.

eg. I have a document, with a list of clauses, the clause numbers are as follows (eg.)

1.01
1.02
1.03
1.04 etc,

If I was to delete 1.02, I would like to have a button to press - re number clauses.

The clause numbers are all under Heading 3, Arial 10,

Thanks for any assistance.

Tim Grindlay,
Windows 7
Microsoft Office 2007

If you use Word's heading Styles with multi-level list numbering, simply adding/deleting an entry will result in the others re-numbering automatically.

Thanks, I will try this,

I currently use a software package that has a Word Add In, it allows me to import custom sections, delete sections, hide or show guidance notes, and renumber clauses

(among other things, but these are the only ones I need to use)

as far as I can see, it is all based on the heading styles,

the section heading is Heading 1, and the clause number and title is Heading 3

is this something I can look at creating for myself

Thanks

Hi Tim,

Ordinarily, it's all quite straightfoward. Your existing Addin may complicate things, though. Without knowing exactly what it does, it's hard to give specific advice.

Thanks,

I can remove the existing Add in easily enough,

really I just want to imort and delete sections, and renumber clauses

(re numbering being the main one)

as much as requiring the function, I also just want to make a start on learning how to do it,

thanks

attached is an example of a document I would edit,

eg. if I removed clause 1.9, I would like to have a button, I could press to re number the clauses

also attached is a screenshot of the current add in I am using,

I only am interested in the Add / Delete Section, and re number clauses...

Thanks,
Tim Grindlay

See attached. If you examine the first three levels your original's outline multilevel list numbering scheme against that of my attachment, you'll see the changes.

Note: Because the automatic numbering is now attached to Heading 3, I had to change the Style of some of your other paragraphs that incorrectly had Heading 3 applied.

Thanks,

this works well, I will be writing some documents for a Company soon, it will be easier to use this system rather than using a renumber button.

Tim Grindlay.
