Default changing first line indent

This is so frustrating. I have a hundred-page doc and I want to know if there's an easy way to change the first line indent for the whole doc, as well as the margins. Tell me I don't have to deal with every individual paragraph--that would suck. If it matters, I'm working on a Mac and it's Word 2004. Thanks!

Select All
Adjust the first arrow on the Ruler

I've tried that (and of course it works on a new doc, prior to typing), but it doesn't change all the first lines in the whole doc. I'm imagining a function wherein I select all the text, adjust something, then click on a button or hit return, and--BAM--all first line indents become uniform throughout doc. Instead I get a ragtag bunch of indents. I should mention there's nothing fancy about the text--just paragraphs, no graphs or lists or anything like that.

Hmmm, what I did was create a blank doc in Word 2007 and then inserted text this way on the blank page:

=rand(100,3)

Which filled up several pages...

Next, I Selected All and adjusted indent via the Ruler

If you have various kinds of indents, I would do a Search and Replace to set one type of Indent, then do what I suggested

I might be showing my novice status. But I don't know what this means in your reply:
=rand(100,3)

=rand(3,2) and then Enter key will fill page with 3 paragraphs with 2 sentences

This way, you can easily have text to play with or learn with

=rand(100,5) say would give you several pages, and so on
