Default Resizing A4 doc into A5, end with error

I have a .doc around 5000 pages all in A4 page size,
now I wanna make it ALL into A5 page size but same font size,
but the software said it can't be done when I hit "Confirm" at "Page Setup" after set the paper into A5.

Questions:
1. How do I solve this problem?

2. Even it's done but I find that some sentences are going over the page,
which means they will be disappeared after printed out, is there an auto-break-sentences or auto-break-line function?

Thanks!

Perhaps set up new document in A5 first then cut and paste from A4 doc. Check margins though but they should be set so the wrap should be fine. Lot of work for 5000 pages but "select all" might help. I then would check word wrapping by selecting all again in new doc and then moving margin tabs around but back to orginal setting for A5 and Word should align everything ok. Done it many times but somewhat smaller docs.

Couldn't reproduce your issue but then I have nothing like 5000 pages to format.

Hi powerfulwhite,

IIRC, the problem usually only occurs in mult-Section documents and is affected by margins sizes. What error message does Word give?

If you don't need the multiple Sections, you could try deleteing all Section breaks (using Find/Replace, where Find = ^b), then do the formatting. The alternative is to re-format the Sections one at a time (or in groups) until you find the one causing problems.

Ok, I tried the replacing method but not working, there were only 2 "^b" to be replaced.

Thanks for all of your info,
I also tried cut all and paste all method,
but since it was 5000 pages so my computer hung.

The cpu was working hard already cut all of that original file,
if I open another A5 based file, it just has gone nearly crash already,
not to mention to paste all part.

OK,
funny as hell,
I tried to resize from A4 to A5 again on other computer,
this time works without error message.

Now my only problem is,
the document became 11000 pages from 5000 pages, which is ok,
some lines automatically broke into next line after reached the slide,
but some doesn't, don't know why.

So,
how do I tell MS word to break all these out-page lines into next line?

Without seeing a sample document showing the lines that do/don't break properly, I can't really say what the issue is.

You can attach a document to a post (delete any sensitive data) via the paperclip symbol on the 'Go Advanced' tab.
