Default no page numbers -- how do i get them back -- only {page} at the header

I think I have have inadvertently hit some keystroke today and the page numbers aren't in the header -- only {page} -- I clock on the paragraph button when I'm worknig so I can see any double space, etc when I'm working. The numbers are there when I check the print preview, but I need to get he numbers back becaue I'm gonig to have to turn this in to someone. I'm using word 2002. Could somebody tell me how to fix this?

Try pressing Alt-F9.

Muchos Gracias! That did it. I don't use word that much, so that was a new thing. Where is that keystroke in the pull down menus? I was looknig for something like that, but couldn't find it and I'm on a deadline.

Assuming Word 2007 and not 2008...
Office Button > Word Options > Advanced >
[x] Show field codes instead of their values

I suspect you hit the key combination by mistake. It is a toggle. The other F9 keys are:
F9 - update selected field(s)
Shift-F9 - toggle display of selected field - code/result
Alt-F9 - toggle display of all field codes in document - code/result
Ctrl-F9 - Insert field code pair (and if text is selected put it inside the pair)
Ctrl-Shift-F9 - Unlink selected field

The F11 key also deals with fields

Oops Word 2002 not 2007

Tools > Options > View Tab (default)
in the area for Show
[x] Field Codes

I don't have Word 2002 on my machine but the above path works in Word 97 and Word 2003 so I assume it would work in 2002.
