Question Word not holding custom default settings

Hi all

I have installed the Office 2010 Pro Plus x86 on my new HP PC that has Win7 x64 bit Home Premium.

The problem is that none of the custom settings that I make in Word, or other Office programs, such as Margins, Fonts, line spacing, etc. will hold from one time to the next. I tell it to make these the default settings for all documents but, each time I open a new document, the settings have reverted back to the original defaults. This is very frustrating and I am not sure how to resolve the problem.

I have used the MS Office x86 on other x64 bit Vista Ultimate and there was no problem with new default settings staying.

Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.
