Question How to set spacing between number and actual text in a MS Word 2012 numbered list

Hey everybody!
Here's my problem: I am trying to set up a template for a long piece of writing and although I have used MS Word styles before, this time I want to do it properly so there would be no headache after that.
I have defined Heading 1 as seen in the attachment, however, there is a big gap between the number (1.) and the start of the actual text (also in attachment). I would like to eliminate this and make it smaller (i.e. the distance of one white space).

However, I can't figure out from where this feature is controlled. Any help?
Thanks in advance!

The spacing is normally a tab. It appears that your heading may is right-justified, which could give it some substantial space at that tab. Since there are no tab settings in your Style, it would depend on the settings in the underlying style: normal.

When setting up your numbering, though, it is important that you do all of the heading styles in one sitting. Follow the instructions in Shauna Kelly's page: How to create numbered headings or outline numbering in Word 2007 and Word 2010
