How do you delete a blank page in the middle of a word document?

What is preventing you from doing so?

You may want to turn on the display of non-printing formatting characters. The button to do this is at the top left of the paragraph group of your Home tab on the ribbon.

You may also want to check the paragraph formatting of the first paragraph on the following page. Is it formatted for "page break before?"

I do not know how to delete a blank page in a Word document, that is what is preventing me from doing so.

Well, I've read it and I still have a blank page at the end of the doc. It has a paragraph marker on it.

Are you sure that selecting the paragraph mark and pressing Delete, or backspacing, doesn't work? Have you made sure that the paragraph isn't preceded by a manual page break or a section break?

If everything else fails, have you tried formatting the content on the extra page as hidden text?

I deleted and back spaced the paragraph mark to no effect. It was not preceded by a section break but there was a continuous page break. I just added some text to the page and went with it.

I'm really not much good with computers or Word any more. I have some help in the computer department, but sometimes this word processing stuff just flummoxes me. What is the easiest, most intuitive, least expensive method of learning this monster of a program?

What do you mean by "continuous page break"? The closest thing that Word offers is a continuous section break, which would add a paragraph mark if the break was at the very bottom of a page. The formatting fix I suggested in my previous post would take care of it.

On Shauna's site I would start with Basic concepts of Microsoft Word: An introduction If you follow the advice there, you'll be ahead of 50% of experienced Word users. Learn as much as you can about Styles.

I'm working through Shauna's site now, but I have Word 2010 and some of her info doesn't jive with my version. Actually, I have a 1,000 page book as well, but grinding through that has been torture.

OK, this isn't working. I need a Word 2010 set of instructions (besides this paper weight I own).

Well, I guess if I'm going to learn, It's the paperweight. Sigh...

The big difference between Word 2003 and Word 2007/2010 is the interface, the Ribbon vs. the menus. The concepts are the same.

Your question is a simple question, but an answer calls up a lot of the behind the scenes details of how Word works. The key thing, in my opinion, is that Word doesn't really work in "pages" as such. It is a stream of text that is broken into pages at the time of printing. Insertion of page breaks and section breaks changes that flow, sometimes in mysterious ways.

If your paragraph mark at the end of your document follows a Table, for instance, it cannot be deleted. The best you can do is to change the font size of the paragraph to 1. That usually does it for that quandary.

Man o man, but this book is intimidating!

I've just redeemed a coupon for the online version. I can copy and print out the tables. That should help, but with everything else on my plate, it's going to be a tough ride.
