office 2007 clipboard - options & source formatting
(1) clipboard dialog box > options
(a) "show office clipboard automatically" is selected, but nothing seems to happen if I select & copy text (or have I misunderstood what that means?) (b) what does "show...when Ctrl + C pressed twice" mean - it doesn't seem to work(2) I have "keep source formatting" selected as the default but (a) when I paste a word by clicking on it in the clipboard it pastes with all the formatting but the font reverts to Times New Roman, though this doesn't happen if i paste by using Ctrl+V or the paste button (b) this also doesn't happen if a whole sentence including the full stop/period is copied & pastedDoes anyone have any idea what's going on here & how to make it work correctly? TIA |

"Show Office clipboard automatically" probably means that you have to copy items a number of times; however, just like you, I haven't been able to figure out how it works. I recommend that you clear the "automatic" option, and that you do select "Show Office clipboard when Ctrl+C pressed twice" as well as "Collect without showing Office clipboard."
Note that the default paste options you mention apply when pasting from the Windows clipboard.

Thanks for your answer Stefan, but I'm not quite sure what you mean by “.....probably means that you have to copy items a number of times.....”.
Also, do you mean there’re separate windows & office clipboards? I've always assumed there was one clipboard function, as part of the OS (i.e. holding copied or cut items in memory or in the page file), but that different apps used it differently. I've tried searching for info on this, but not found anything. If you had the inclination to explain, or point me towards some info it’d be much appreciated! It’s not important, but I'm curious about it. Anyway, there's a screenshot below that I found on google books, though of the five options described the first & fourth don’t seem to work for me. Well, for the Office clipboard to display "automatically" as the option in the task pane says, you'll need some sort of a trigger. My first guess was that you have to copy items, say, three timesbut it doesn't seem to work like that.
The Windows clipboard only contains the items you last copied (or cut). On the other hand, the Office cipboard, represented by the task pane, may contain several items recently copied or cut. By default, items are only collected to the Office clipboard when it is displayed, and you can display it by clicking the dialog launcher button in the Clipboard group of the Home tab.
