Custom Dictionary & Unicode encoding?
Hi, hope someone here can help me with this issue!
I have a custom.dic (Contains a heap of geological terms) that i saved off a website (the list is designed to be used as a custom dictionary). I opened it in Mozilla and clicked file save, so it is a html file type. Now i can open the file in microsoft word (2007) and save it as a word document. however if i then try to add the file as a custom dictionary i get the following 'files without unicode encoding can't be added to the dictionary list. Save the file as a unicode file to add it to the list' Does anyone know how i can do this or if it is even possible. Help is very much appreciated! Markus |

Hi markus,
where did you get the word list from? I'm a geologist and would love to be able to have a list of words to put in my custom dictionary. I might be able to find a way around your problem if I could try myself. regards, Scott |

Hi Markus,
I too am a geologist and encountered the same problem with a custom geological dictionary I have. You will need to open the file in a text editor such as notepad, select save as, choose unicode encoding at the bottom of the dialog box and save it with the unicode option (ANSI is the default). Be sure the extension of the file is .dic You should then be able to add the dictionary to office applications. Hope this helps |
