Question Word to Adobe via Ribbon

I have tried to save a Word document as a pdf using the Acrobat Ribbon, Create PDF. It does not work. It doesn't even have an hour glass icon, like it is trying. The only way I can get a pdf version of a Word document is to Print to Adobe PDF. Our IT guy says to just use the Print to Adobe PDF and not worry about using the Acrobat Ribbon. Why have the Acrobat Ribbon if you can't use it? Any suggestions?

In Word 2010, just click "save as" and choose pdf.

Since Acrobat supplies the ribbon, you might want to ask them.
