This is a Word 2010 bug - I had an IT tech test it with me for about 30 minutes on three separate workstations, and we confirmed it's broken.
You can send a Word document by email attachment and not have this issue, but when you "Send to Mail Recipient" as an inline email message, the Options dialog hangs up for about one to two full minutes before it activates and allows you to click any of the check boxes, or even close it out. "Send to Mail Recipient" is an option you can only activate by customizing your Quick Access toolbar. The macro is under All Commands. When you place the icon on your toolbar and click it, it turns the Word document into an email message - not as an attachment, but an actual email message. This is how I send documents to coworkers for approval, and have for years. They type their corrections directly into their email replies, and when the file is ready for approval, I click Options and select Approve/Reject. They just click Approve, and I instantly receive an email notice that the document is good to go without any further effort on anyone's part. Now, however, the Options dialog is lifeless for what seems like days. It always wakes up eventually, but it's a real time waster. There may be other times when it drags, but we tested a few and the "Send to Email Recipient" option was the only one we found. From what I gather, Microsoft isn't open to bug reports on Office 2010. If anyone has any thoughts about what might fix it I would appreciate it. It's messing me up. Thanks |
