Default Word2010 check boxes and plain text content control boxes in same table

Word 2010.
I have a table in which I require one column to have a check box and another to have a check box in one column and a plain text content control, but cannot get the check box to work when I put restrictions on.
Also how do I change the check box to have a 'tick' instead of a Cross

Form field check boxes require the "Filling in forms" type of protection. Note that form fields and content controls don't work well together.

Given that you have Word 2010, are you using a Checkbox Content Control? As for having a tick, that's not possible with and of Word's checkboxes (Formfield, ActiveX or Content Control)

Default Word 2010 check box and plain text control

Hello
What i did was create a table 3 columns
Column 1 put say 'Attended course'
Column 2 should be a check box to indicate if attended
Column 3 was for a free format comment.
I can get the check box to work by using control legacy and cht check box and adding Restrict Editing and ticking Editing restictions,
and fill in forms selected.
But cannot get the column 3 for comments working so I can allow people to enter commnets.
How can I achieve this.
Thank you

As Stefan said "form fields and content controls don't work well together".

You should use either:
• checkbox formfields and text formfields; OR
• checkbox content controls and text content controls.
