Default Downloading & saving templates for my son

I need to download & save Word templates for my son to use. He is unable to download because of the restrictions on his user account, so I have to download them using my account. But where do I save them so he will have access to them while logged in under his profile? Is there some general location in the Office folder in program files where I can save a template and have them accessible to anyone on the computer? I don't want anyone but me to have administrative access, so I have to be the one to do the downloading.

I can download them for myself, but I can't seem to figure out where to save them so everyone else can access them. I'd appreciate any suggestions anyone may have.

As the Administrator, you can save the template in your son's user templates folder (the path is usually C:\Users\<user_name_here>\AppData\Roaming\Microsof t\Templates\ but the File Locations dialog box of your son's installation will tell for sure). I believe you also need to give him read & execute access to the file.

Thumbs up

Thanks for all of your help. I tried to save it in my son's AppData folder, but for some reason that wasn't available to me. So I tried once again to do it under his account, but this time I used Internet Explorer instead of Firefox and it let me download and save the file. I was able to open the template and use it under his account.

Go figure. As best as I can tell, Windows was not happy with me trying to download this Office template with a forbidden browser such as FF instead of using IE. What was I thinking?! But it works now and he's all set to go.

Of course I'm about to re-format and upgrade from Windows 7 32-bit to Windows 7 64-bit here in another week or so. So I'll have to do this all over again. but now I know that if I use their approved browser it should work. But I'll still use FF for the other 99.99% of the time, I'm sure much to their chagrin

But really, thanks to all of you who tried to help me out.
