Hi,
i am trying to paste an image in Word 2007. The problem is that Word only allows up to a fixed length image to be properly pasted.

My image is 650px length, 400 height.



If i paste it, the image gets resized, quality is TERRIBLE.

I can select "Format picture"->"Size"->"Scale" to scale the image back to 100%, but quality is already gone.

How to paste my iamge without word resizing it?

First off, make sure Word's image compression is switched off. Allowing Word to compress your image won't help it's quality one iota.

As for the 100% size, that doesn't mean reall much - it all depends on how many dpi the image says that 100% applies to. FWIW, an image of that size probably won't look much good any larger than 3.25*2in, which only allows for a 200dpi resolution. For quality work, 300dpi+ is typically called for.

but if i paste the cropped version of the same image then everything looks great (e.g. 150*150px)

Word automatically resizes images that are more than 600px wide.

I am now using word 2010, i was able to preserve the quality there.

You have to select the image, click "format" from top menu and click "reset picture"

The normal behaviour in Word is for pasted/inserted images to be re-scaled to fit the space available. If you want to constrain an image's dimensions, paste it into a table cell that has a fixed height and width.
