Installing 2010 with 2003 docos on desktop
Hi
If I install microsoft office 2010 on my old computer, will it wipe out all my 2003 documents? Will I still be able to open and read them? same for excel? |

If you have not yet worked with the Ribbon interface I would recommend keeping Word and Excel 2003 on your computer, at least for a while. While most of us adapt to the new user interface and even come to prefer it, it is a jolt to an experienced user. Keeping your old versions for a bit means that it is less likely to interfere with your productivity while you learn it. For Word, if you want you can install an additional tab with the Word 2003 menus and toolbars. It can be downloaded from Ribbon Menu Control – Classic UI - Search the page for "Classic UI" to find the download. If you are operating both versions it works but there is a delay as you switch from version to version. That can be avoided with a registry change (hack) described at Toolbars and Word 2007/2010 - dual version registry hack |
