Another Problem Linking Word Docs From a Word Doc

I am having a probem linking word documents from another word document.



I have a table within my main word document. In the cells of the table I have hyperlinks to other documents (word, excel, powerpoint, etc.). The links to the non-word documents work well but the hyperlinked word documents don't open. I get a message on the task bar that the linked word document is being downloaded but it never downloads.

When I close the main word document to see if I can open the linked word document I get the message that: Document xxx is locked for editing by 'another user'.

The linked documents are as small as 56K so size is not an isssue. Also the document is not protected and no other user has the file open. When I reboot my system I can then open the hyperlinked word documents directly but they will not open from the main word document.

Anybody have any idea what's going on?

Depending on your PC setup, the problem may be caused by IE opening the file. See: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/162059
