I have a 200 page document that is made up of one table with three columns. When I print any page, the table as it's printed on each page only takes up about 3/4 of the upper left portion of the printed page. In Print view on my screen, the page outline is wider than normal. If I open a new document, the page width looks normal but when I cut and paste one or more pages from the original doc, the page suddenly widens. The document is set to Portrait, and the paper is set to letter 8.5 x 11. Yet this table is forcing the page to be unproportionately wider. The table stays the proper width and the margins are as they are in any other document I print, .5 all the way around. I've checked all settings I know of and everything seems normal yet this table is forcing the page with to change.

I fixed it without figuring it out. What didn't work is copying the table into a new document. The same strange page dimensions persisted. Then I copied the whole document into Excel, changed the cell widths etc, then pasted it back into a new Word document and the page size was correct. I sort of wish I new what the deal with my original document was so I can avoid the hassle in the future. The doc was sent from my client so I wasn't the author.

One possibility is some sort of table corruption which got fixed when you moved the data to Excel and back.

Thanks Stefan. That was one thing I was thinking too. I always like to know the source of a problem even if I find a work around, but I think I'll have to let this one go.

Indeed, afterwards we can never tell for certain what the problem was! :-)
