Default Indent Problem

I have a MS word document about a hundred pages or so long that I need to indent the first line of every paragraph.
I've gone to paragraph/indents and spacing/indentation/special to first line, on the hi-lighted document. It then only indents the first paragraph of the entire document.
I've also tried copying and pasting the content somewhere else with the same result.
I've been researching for about an hour and am ready to see how far I can punt the computer. If anyone can tell me what I'm doing wrong you will have my eternal gratitude.

Hi adamsoa,

It's time you learnt to use paragraph Styles. When you apply a given paragraph Style to a paragraph, simply changing that Style's definition updates all paragraphs formatted with that Style to the new definition. That defintion includes all of the attributes you find via the Paragraph formatting dialogue. See:

That said, you should be able to apply the indenting to all paragraphs in the document via Ctrl-A (to select the entire document), then changing the paragraph indents.
