Default Formatting a letter

Hi,

I'm formatting a letter template to fit with a pre-printed letter head and want parts of the typed letter to line up with logo, address etc. on this pre-print.

I've set the margins and top of the page to begin the recipients address in the correct place. However, I also want to make the main body of the letter (Dear Sir... etc.) to always begin in the same place regardless of the length of address.

Is there a way to format two 'beginnings' of text on the same page. I can see how this could be done by setting up a table with two rows however this template needs to be super simple so I want to avoid this.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Ceri

There is no "super simple" way to do this. I laud you for creating a template for this.

First, I would use a macrobutton field prompt or a text content control for where the address and body of the letter are to be placed. Here is a free Add-In you can download to make such prompts in a document or template: MacroButton Prompt Add-In

You could then use an Advance field just before the prompt for the body.

In setting up your template, especially if you are going to have different margins on the first page, I would recommend you look at How to set up a letter template and perhaps the Letterhead Textboxes and Styles Tutorial.
