Default Document automation

Hello, I have a document that the user enters in data into 3 different fields and upon exit of the third field some code executes turns the data into a barcode and prints. My question is I am trying to have that same data in the footer but without barcode font. Currently i inserted thre references to the fields. the first two are numeric and works great. The third is a text field and populates with a barcode font. Any thoughts on how to get that field ref to show the alpha data?

It all depends on what kind of field and how the barcode is generated. Are these legacy formfields, Word 2007 Content Controls, or Active-X. Is there some kind of on-exit macro operating?

You may want to see Greg Maxey and Graham Mayor's work on linked content controls. Content Controls, Mapped Content Controls, and Mayor & Maxey "Content Control, Variable, Bookmark and Document Property Tools".
