How do I search for terms in initial upper-case?
Hi all I'm searching in a legal agreement in Word for terms that have been defined. They all begin with a capital letter. Is there any easy way of doing this? At the moment I'm searching by letter, so first A..., then B... etc. My method is to highlight certain common words that are likely to begin a sentence but are not legal definitions, and then search for all other words. So, eg 'Find' all instances of A^$^$ / Format: not highlight (where I've already highlighted words like 'All' and 'Any'). Any more efficient procedure would be much appreciated. Thanks Bertie |

Hi Bertie,
See: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/...9-316f76abbe13 This thread has an extensive discussion with a number of macros to create a list of such terms, where the terms to be searched for are in double quotes. Perhaps something along those lines will meet your needs. FWIW, with your present method you could use a wildcard Find for your search, where: Find = <[A-Z][A-Za-z]@> This will find all words of two or more letters beginning with a capital, including wholly-capitalized words.

Thanks macropod. The wildcard Find = <[A-Z][A-Za-z]@> is exactly what I need. Just one question: if I want to find initial cap words with 3 or more letters, and not 2, which bit do I change (this is to avoid words like 'Any' and 'The')?
All the best Bertie |

Hi Bertie,
You could use: Find = <[A-Z][A-Za-z]{2,}> With this construction, the '2' specifies the minumim number of letters after the initial capital letter. Do note that the '2' won't avoid 'Any' or 'The' - for that you'll need '3'.
