There is no equation editor button on my Microsoft word 2007 document

I know where the button should be and how I can use it but when I click on insert there is only a symbols button but no equation button. Why isn't it there?

Right end of Insert tab. It may be smaller and stacked over Symbol.



What happens if you open Word in Safe mode?

When I click on insert there is only a bit that says symbols. I know where it should be but its just not there. and I have no idea what safe mode is

Is it just that one document? Or all word files? Perhaps try and restore the menu in the options?

Or could be something in that document customizing the ribbon?
