Find, aka search aka ctrl+pgdn across multiple lines
I am doing a selective find and replace of a lengthy text string, which often breaks across a line. When it does, Word only shows me the end of the string in the second line at the top of the screen, and cuts off the beginning of the string. The result is that I cannot determine whether this is text that I need to replace because I cannot see the text before the found text, unless I scroll up. I have several hundred replacements that I need to do in each of several documents, so all the scrolling is tedious. I am looking for some way to modify Word so that it shows all of the "find" text instead of cutting off the first line.
My apologies if this is covered elsewhere, but I searched extensively and couldn't find a solution. |

Hi snarfii,
Word doesn't have a setting that allows the user to determine how much content should be displayed above/below a selected range. To some extent, I believe, that display is partly managed by information supplied by both your display adapter and printer driver. Consequently, you're pretty much limited to what you're already getting.
