Default How to keep hyperlinks when creating a table of contents

I have a document which is a collection of daily news articles. The heading of each article points to a hyperlink (where the article came from). Is there a way of assembling the table of contents in a way that it points to the hyperlink of the heading and not to the article itself?
Currently it is done manually and it is really tedious, I would really like to automate it and make it easier.

Did you try References > Table of Contents > Insert Table of Contents and DEselecting the Use Hyperlinks Instead of Page Numbers checkbox? That removes hyperlinks from the TOC; however, you can still jump to a page by clicking the page number.

It doesn't work. When I deselect "Use hyperlinks instead of Page Numbers" the TOB becomes plain text. It doesn't take the hyperlinks of my headers.

Hi Abacaxi,

Your description suggests you have the hyperlink in a Heading format, instead of the Item heading. If you want the TOC to point to an Item heading, the Item heading must exist in your document, preferably in one of Word's Heading Styles.
