Independent text and annotation columns
Hi everyone, I'm using word to write research notes for a dissertation. I have made a table composed of two columns - a large one on the left for writing the bulk of my text (quotes, images etc), and a small one on the right where i make notes (page numbers, reminders etc). The problems is when I want to put a note in the right hand column I have to press 'enter' or 'backspace' a whole load of times to avoid shifting any text which is above or below it. Is there any way I can fix text in the right hand column so it corresponds permanently with my bulk text on the left? Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

If this is notes, and not text that you need to flow. Add rows to your columns. Put each paragraph on the left side in a separate row, with the comments and annotations that apply to that text in the right column of that row.
Otherwise, you could use the Comment feature instead. That will link these annotations to the text directly. |

Ok, I've gone and done that and it's working. It's been a bit time-consuming making a new document and splitting up the information into rows, but it's been well worth it. The logical sequence is much easier to follow and I can move chunks about. Thanks!
