Default the macro cannot be found or has been disabled

When I start up Microsoft Office 2007 word I get the following error five times:

'The macro cannot be found or has been disabled because of your Macro security settings'

I've tried selecting 'Disable all macros without notification' but when I start Word I still get the errors. Currently I have the 'Macro settings' on 'Enable all macros' and it displays the error messages.

Is there a way to fix this?

Hi map7,

That suggests you have an addin that's faulty. For troubleshooting steps, see:

I followed that link you sent me and have done the following and still have the problem:

Searched for 'Normal.dotm' & 'Normal.dot' could not find a single file.
There are no files in C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\STARTUP
Tried renaming C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\ADDINS to ADDINS.bak, still had problems
Tried renaming every directory in 'C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office' to .bak apart from Office12

Within regedit you should be able to find the startup path by looking at:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\W ord\Options\“STARTUP-PATH”
This didn't exist.

Hi map7,

Word's Normal template (and it will exist), is stored in a folder whose name you can find via Word Options|Advanced|File Locations > User Templates. You may need to click the 'Modify' button there, then the navigation bar to see the full path. Indeed, if you do that, you can copy the path & paste it into Windows Explorer's navigation bar (if you have it displayed).

Have you checked what add-ins are installed (IIRC, that's via Word Options|Addins in Word 2007)?

Also, for further troublesshooting tips, see: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/921541

Thank you for your help. It was a startup file from LEAP Legal software. So I'll contact their support team.

C:\Documents and Settings\p100.WS14\Application Data\Microsoft\Word\STARTUP\LEAP03Automation.dotm exists.
If I rename this to LEAP03Automation.old the problem goes away, so there must be something wrong with this file.

Hi map7,

You might find that simply uninstalling, then re-installing the problem LEAP software fixes its problems.

macropod,

hello, I have the same issue, and reading thru this thread I've also tried following the procedure suggested on the earlier link you posted to help Map7. I rename the normals templates from normal.dotm to normal.old while word and outlook are closed like it suggests, then when I reopen word, it takes a few seconds but it gives the same error and when I look again there are newly placed normal.dotm in the folder along the already-renamed normal.old templates...
Any guidance will be greatly appreciated

Hi urim,

As with map7, your problem may have nothing to do with the Normal template. It could be caused by a faulty addin. Check what addins you have installed, under Word Options|Addins. Also, check the contents of:
C:\Documents and Settings\%UserName%\Application Data\Microsoft\Word\STARTUP\
for any .dot or .dotm files.

macropod,

There are two COM Add-in among other things, one is "BCL easypDF 6 COM Add-in" and "Nitro".
I looked on the STARTUP folder you indicated -but its empty.
However, I found .dotm, .ppam and .xlam add-in's in the following folder path:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\STARTUP
but even when I rename them or move/delete, they get restored back to that forlder everytime I open word, and get the error notifications.

It looks to me like you have two PDF maker addins - "BCL easypDF' and 'Nitro'. Most likely, one of these is faulty. Try uninstalling both and only reinstalling whichever one you prefer.
