Default Numbered Lists

I want the autocorrect feature that allows word to create an automatic numbered list when I type in 1. but how do I get it to allow me to create a new numbered list? Every time I try to start over with 1. it just autochanges my typing and changes the number to continue the previous list. I'm trying to type a paragraph, do a list, type a new paragraph, do a new list but it's not letting me.

Hi jburtis,

if you want a numbered list to restart at 1 you simply need to right click on the number and select 'restart at 1'

I hope this is what you are after.
