font in style definition trashed

I have a style that uses Adobe Caslon Pro (present on the PC) as its font. Suddenly, this displays as something more like Arial, and very widely spaced. When I try to check and correct the style definition:

the preview in the Modify Style dialog is correct
Word shows a mysterious warning "the number must be between 1 and 600."

What's going on, and how do I get my style back? Thanks in advance.
