Word: have to click mouse before typing -- why?
Hello, trying to figure out a problem my boss is having. He needs to click the mouse when he opens a new Word document before he is able to type. (Otherwise, when he types, nothing happens.) Can someone please help me find a way that he can just type directly when he opens a new document? This isn't happening to anyone else here...
He is using Word 2007 and the OS is Windows 7 Professional 64 bit. Thank you! |

How, exactly, is he starting a new document? Is Word already open? Have you observed this or is it a report from your boss.
In some circumstances, it can take as long as a minute for Word to start, usually when there are a number of Add-Ins. I've known people to get impatient and click outside of Word while waiting. It sounds as if the Application is losing the focus. |

Thanks for the response. Yes, I've seen this. It's every time he opens a new document, even if Word is already open. So it's if he clicks on the shortcut on his desktop, or on the Word icon on the toolbar, or if he clicks "New" when he's already in Word.

What happens if he opens Word in "safe" mode?
