display number of characters in a word section
hi,
I made a word document in which I would like to display the number off characters in one section. Can anyone tell me how I can do this? Is it also possible that the counter alters during typing? thx in advance for all the advice you can give me |

Hi Paul,
in your answer I can't seem to find a method to display (in the document, nog in the statusbar) the number of characters within one section in my word document. Not in the whole document. Preferably: as a variable also displayed in the text. Is this possible? gr, Luc |

Hi Luc,
With the technique in the link, the count can be gained for whatever text you select, but that isn't inserted into the document. Word doesn't have any built-in tools for inserting a character count or word count for a section into the document. You could do this with a macro, but the number would be just plain text and wouldn't update. And, once it's inserted as plain text, updating that number becomes problematic.
