Default Styles dissapeared

Hi,
I was pasting text from another document and my styles got corrupted (their formatting changed).
On another occasion 2 styles were simply deleted (all were connected to each other).
What is going on?
How can I protect my styles in the document? It is a document that a few people on different stations work on.
Thanks,

Tamir

Hi Tamir,

Word is not in the habit or arbitrarily deleting/reformatting Styles. If Style definitions clash, your copy/paste options will determine what happens, Similarly, there are settings that control Style reformatting. Without more details, no-one can say for sure what the real issue is.

Default Settings that control Style reformatting

Thank you for the reply. I changed the copy/paste options to be "text" so that the pasting will be "dressed" with the current paragraph formatting.
However, you have mentioned that there are also "settings that control Style reformatting". Could you please point out where can I find them?
Thanks,
Tamir

Hi Tamir,

You can, of course, change a Style definition via Styles > Manage Styles. And, if you check the 'automatically update' option there, formatting changes that you make in the document will change the underying Style.
