Smile Unable to Save Existing Document

We run into an issue somewhat frequently where we can't save an existing word document. The document is opened to edit and when an attempt to save it up pops a save as dialog. The dialog won't let us save the file in the original location or even anywhere else. We have been forced to create a new word document, copy paste content, then save it from the new word doc. Any ideas as to what is going on? These documents are located on file shares that are working normally in other respects.

Thanks in advance!

Hi masterworks,

This could be a network issue, especially if multiple users and different documents are affected.

If it is a network issue, how might you recommend confirming that? It appears to be so inconsistent of an issue.

Hi masterworks,

As indicated in my previous reply: if multiple users and different documents are affected, that suggests a network issue.

I'll have to confirm that my user has the same difficulty when he copies one of these problematic files to his desktop to use.
