Indexing a book - page numbers?

I am working on an index for a book -- and I know how to create the index. However, when I go back through the index, many of the page numbers are not in consecutive order. For example:



Sells, Anita 23, 25-7, 11, 5

Is there a way to correct this?

Have you tried updating the index? Are your document's page numbers sequential throughout?
