Default Custom Number Format for Chart

Hello,

I needed a custom axis format for a chart I placed in Word. I right clicked on the axis then went to Format Axis > Number. I clicked on Custom and entered my format code. However, I accidentally added a wrong code.

My question is: how do I remove a format code from the type display window?
I've tried just highlighting the code and pressing backspace and delete, but neither attempt worked.

Thanks In Advance

When testing this in Word 2010 in a *.docx file, it does seem to work properly. Which file format are you using? Do you get an error message?

Can you reproduce the problem in any document with charts, or does it happen only in that particular one?

Hello Stefan,

I'm using Microsoft Word 2007 so it automatically saves in *.docx format. There are no error messages and it happens on all charts that extra formats are added to.

However, there is good news!!

The custom formats must only exist for the current use of Word. After revisiting the document I was working on, the only custom format that appeared was the one I ended up choosing (I guess Word deletes unused custom formats when exited). I can't believe that I overlooked checking that when I was working.

Regardless, I thank you for your concern and help.

I guess I accidentally said I have Word 2010 (which I do have, but on different computer). I have changed it 2007 for future posts. Sorry for any confusion.
