need to get rid of white outline boxes in table

So I'm creating a table and after finishing I began shading only to find these white boxes throughout the whole document every time the return key is struck (example below in purple).




created a new document and this is did not happen (ex. in blue). Played around with "borders" to no avail (ex. borders around "AHAZ..."). These aren't borders because there are several in each row.

I need to get rid of these white boxes ASAP and do not have the time to manually retype the plethora of data.


n.b. grey lines are simply "gridlines" being shown. Office 2011 Mac, Word 14.1.4

They show up on print preview, so yes. Not going to waste the ink because if I start a new doc they aren't there but if I paste from old doc to the new they show up, implying that there is some function that does this.

If you can post a document with a copy of the table, I'll take a look at it.

edit: I created a new document and posted a good column and bad column. Sorry, I can't post the entire file where all columns are offending due to copyright reasons. In the original file, every new row shows up with the white lines.
