Default Auto indexing

Hi,

I want to make an index for a long report. For the chapter titles and subtitels I made a seperate 'head style' named head 1.1 and head 1.2. I did this because I didnt like the standard head 1 and head 2 layouts.

But the automated indexing function doesnt recognize these and I dont know how to change the lay out of the standard head style.

All I can think of is selecting all the chapter titles and subtitles and reassigning the standard 'head 1' and 'head 2' to them and then change the lay out for every title seperatly.

Is there an easier way? cant I just tell word that my own made 'head 1.1' and 'head 1.2' need to be taken into the index??

thx
