Default letters are dashes

When I try to type in a new document, all the letters and numbers are tiny dashes. I'm sure I've turned something off or on, but what? HELP!! Thanks

Hi pmd,

Perhaps you've changed to font size to 1pt or something such. Without seeing the document, it's impossible to say for sure.

Hi pmd,

For some reason your document's line spacing is set to 0. Re-set it to single and all will be revealed. I'm assuming you're using office 2010, as there's no such thing as Office 2012. In that case, you can change the spacing via the Home tab, using Paragraph> Indents and Spacing > Line Spacing.
