Default Heading Styles with Nested Numbering

Hi

I have heading styles with nested numbering levels, like this:
I. Heading 1
A. Heading 2
1. Heading 3

So far so good.
Now, the next Heading 1, looks like this:
II. Heading 1
B. Heading 2 <--- This is wrong, should be: "A. Heading 2"
2. Heading 3 <-- and this should be: "1. Heading 3"

My styles work great, except for the number level value, which is retained from the previous.
My tedious work around to Right Mouse-->Numbering-->Set Numbering Value.

How can I fix this by modifying the appropriate heading style?

Thanks for your help!

Hi dlowrey,

You need to tell the multi-level list numbering for level 2 to re-start after level 1, and for level 3 to re-start after level 2.

Default Nested Numbering follow up question

Below is an excerpt from the style definition.

Level 2, Numbered + Level: 1 + Numbering Style: A, B, C, … + Start at: 1

So how should it read?
And where do I change it? I didn't see anything that might do the trick in Right Mouse-->Define New Number Format

Thanks
dlowrey

Hi dlowrey,

Select anything in the Heading 1 Style, then click on the 'Mult-level List' button. After selecting the 'Define New Mult-level List' option, click on the 'More' button. Now, choose '2' for the 'Level to modify', then check the 'Restart List after' option and choose 'Level1'. Next, choose '3' for the 'Level to modify', then check the 'Restart List after' option and choose 'Level2'. When you're done, click 'OK'.
